Over the past twenty five years, at his workplace Steppy Downs Studio in Cornwall , Roy has been working in the creative art form of decorative wildlife woodcarving. Combining skills learnt as an instrument maker in the aviation industry Roy creates his wildlife pieces in fine detail, using "pyrography' a very ancient art form. Roy has developed a technique that he terms 'painting with heat'.

Flying birds are a speciality, finely balanced to produce a wing cadence close to the characteristics of the species chosen.

Roy's affinity with precision and fine detail is amply rewarded by the challenge he finds in the delightful art form of decorative carving of wildlife and nature; his commissioned pieces wing their way around the globe.
